Crystal of the month; Garnet

The New Year brings with it new blogs. Each month, I will be talking about the crystal associated with that month. The month of January's birthstone is garnet. Garnet is a semi- precious stone that provides energy and regeneration of the spirit. It brings balance to energy, serenity and passion. It is found all over the mother earth.

Garnet is a stone that inspires love and devotion, balancing the sexual drive. Red garnet in particular, stimulates the kundalini energy and heightens sexual energy! ( just in time for February and Valentine's Day!)

Garnet stimulates the pituitary gland and can expand awareness and past -life recall. Garnet increases the power of other crystals and clears negative energy in the chakras.

Garnets stimulate metabolism and regenerate the body, in particular the spine. Disorders of the heart, lungs, and cellular dysfunctions ( DNA) also benefit from garnet's extraordinary power. In fact, if power is what you are looking for square garnets bring success in business matters. Garnets move taboos and inhibitions and open up the heart chakra and improve self-confidence. There are variations of garnet that have added attributes;

Almandine Garnet: massively healing stone offering stamina and strength. It integrates one with the higher self, initiating charity and compassion. Almandine opens the pathway between the root and crown chakras.

Andradite is a garnet for creativity and relationships. It removes feelings of isolation and alienation. Andradite, ( doesn't that sound like androgen?) supports qualities once associated with males. Courage, stamina and strength are supported by andradite. Andradite cleanses the aura and magnetic feilds

Grossularite is a garnet to hold during a lawsuit or challenge. It will bring relaxation, and a sense of going with the flow. Grossularite enhances fertility and aids in the absorption of vitamin A. Arthritis and rheumatism have no chance when grossularite is on hand! The kidneys, mucous membranes and skin all benefit from this garnet.

Rhodolite is an earthy warm stone. Think of it's colour; its the colour of the base charka; Muladhara which is strengthened by Rhodolite. Body parts that benefit from rhodolite are the lungs and heart and hips. It increases metabolism and improves sexual drive.
